My maxie dress turned into two pieces. I’ll be changing the crochet part on top to a thinner thread, so it won’t look so heavy. It should drop even nicer afterward. I didn’t get the A-line I wanted for the skirt. I would of have to take it all apart. It didn’t hit me until later that their was to much fabric, but that’s ok. Now I have a pattern for next year with lighter fabric. Can’t wait to make a few for next summer. So all in all, I like the way they came out. So, there it is. I hope you like it.
I do want to take a picture wearing it, but I think I’ll drop a couple of pounds first. lol The orange blouse I made last, I wear all the time. It’s so thin and airy. I love it! Especially in this hot weather were having in Chicago.
I finally finished my tank top. I’ve been wanting to do this for awhile but there is usually so many others things to do. So I hunkered down and said ‘No, your going to do this because you need to practice. And alot of it.
I usually go to the thrift so to go find materials I can use for other things. But I noticed that much of what I had purchased had alot of it. And much of the parts you need are already sewn, like a hem. So I took a summer dress, that of course wasn’t my size and made into a top. I also had a pattern that I found at the thrift store as well and made use of it. For starting anew since a few years, it didn’t come out that bad. Of course it could be better! I’m not trying to fool anybody.
It took me a couple of days. Unlike a pro, who would of had it done in couple of hours or less. lol So here is the dress. I’m not sure if I could put the photos side by side. If I can’t, I’m sure you’ll recognize it by the material in the next post.
Well, I can’t believe Easter came and went just as fast as all the previous holidays. Easter of course is my favorite holiday. Hmmm, I wonder why? I was going to put something up before but I knew the theme of course was all about that cute little fuzzy bunny and his basket. lol So, I decide to wait. My sister’s little granddaughter had just painted her room and her mother had put her on facebook doing the job. Which I thought was so cute. So I just had to make a couple of things for her new room. I was on a roll and just had fun doing it. I bet you can guess what color her room is. 🙂
I do have a few projects that I want to get underway with but right now since spring is here I’m working toward fashion. Yap, It’s time to take out the sewing machine. Now, I’m not an expert on sewing by no means. But I’ve read the manual (lol) and watch ‘Sewing with Nancy, Martha’s sewing room, and It sew easy’. I like Angela Wolf and her guests. One of them had been on ‘Project Runway’! Which I also really enjoy watching. I Have a lot of sewing to do. I’ll definitely take before and after photos. And if it comes out crooked, well, I know fashion is always looking for new trends. lol
The necklace was made out of gum. I did have problems after it was painted. While putting the holes in, the candy coat was cracking. Which was upsetting. But over all it worked pretty good. Can’t wait to make a few more. If I can find the time. I just made this one on a whim, just to see if it could be done. Still looking for improvement.
As I was collecting a lot of gum doing a different project, I decided to see what else I can do with them. They were all white of course. (Blank Canvas if you ask me) I thought ‘Hay, I can makes these in several colors’. Then do what with them? Duh! Beads!!! So I put holes on both sides, glued eye pins that I made. (clearing my throat), added chains and cones and necklace was born. Still have to find a glaze to make them shine. And find better paint the acrylic took a few coats. Trial and error. I hate it but it’s part of the creative process. I can’t wait to rock my necklace out this summer!
Hi everybody! I have quite a few things that I’ll be putting up. Actually, I wasn’t sure what to put up first. So, let me break it down a little. I’m into everything. From baking, sewing, refurbishing, needle arts and crafts. I’ll put that near my header when I figure out how to do it! I first came into crafts as a stress reliever years back and believe me it helped. And of course it evolved from there. So, this is a beige bag that I made, that was from a sweater, that I saw at a thrift store. (I’m always going to the thrift stores) The pattern was the thing that caught my eye and at home, I had this macrame robe that hadn’t been used, took it apart at the end and made the handles. Pretty easy!
