Here is my Thanksgiving cake. It came out nice, if I have to say so myself. Still of course trying to master the perfect rose. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. Could be that the ice buttercream is not stiff enough. I have to work on that and the green leaves. I’ll get there eventually. But ready to make my own yellow or chocolate batter. I don’t mind for now to buy the box but I really want to learn to make whole cake from scratch. I definitely will work on that in the spring. The holidays are here and their is no room for mistakes! lol
My son’s birthday is next, then it will be a Christmas cake. Not sure how to do that one since their are so many variations. I have yet to work with fondant. And their are many who say they just don’t like the taste. Have to admit, I never tried fondant myself. But I need to and find out what everyone is talking about. I thought it would taste good. It looks good! I guess I’ll find out when I try it.
The holidays are coming it seems, fast! Thanksgiving next week already.
I finished my son’s cake. Now my next step is to work on those buttercream roses and green leaves. I always seems to amaze myself when it comes to decorating a cake. The time you put in to learn, is well worth it. It feels good knowing that you made it. Handling the cakes at home has made it a plus to handle the cakes at work as well. I could carry them around with ease and not worry about dropping them. In which I know my boss would appreciate. lol
Today was a surprise as I help someone customize a cake. She was so thankful that she actually gave me a nice tip. I really have to that more often!! Really in a hurry tonight. Have to hit the hay and get ready for work tomorrow.
Internet not up yet, but I’m hoping it will soon. In the mean time!!!!! Trying to get as much done as I can. Especially with the holidays starting early this year. Not to mention all the birthdays I have as well. All in the months of November, December and January. More time to practice on decorating on my cakes. Still working on my roses and borders. I so have to learn how to temper chocolate. I hope my son’s cake turns out well. I’ll definitely will post that one up.
Job hunting went well. Landed a job at a BAKERY!!!!!. Learning new techniques already. I’m so happy to be there and I’m hoping to stay for at least 2 yrs. God willing. I know I can learn so much by working there. And the hours well, they just fly by. There is always something to do.
I am so stoked about doing so many new things this coming year that I’m getting myself all excited. For one, I’m learning how to dress up my eyes more by working with different eye shadows and leaning how to make that black wing a little more subtle. More because I am at a work place and not out on the town. So many well dressed people come that bakery and I want to play my part at doing as much as I can to well present the company.
The more better I look, the better I’ll feel. And that of course works for me.
I always feel I’m at a crunch for time, so I’ll catch with everyone next week. Have a great week and weekend!!!
Actually only my internet. Now, I know you know how I feel. I’m at the library where everyone goes when that happens. Hopefully I’ll have back before the first snow storm hits. lol But other good news. I am back in the work force. I landed a part-time job at a bakery. Which I’m so happy for I’ll be able to pick up on math and techniques. Work is already fun and the hours go by fas.
Of course with the holidays I’ll be more busy but I’ll try to come out as often as I can to upload videos and vlogs. I’m aiming for every Friday but we’ll see what happens.
