Tea anyone?

Published September 23, 2013 by emmaperez1961

Hi everybody!! I had made these tea cups like a couple months ago and I just now, today decided to paint them. They’re not perfect as you can see but I think there still cute. I’m not really sure what I’m going to do with them cause it was my first try at them. I still need to work on the handles. Maybe I’ll make them into charms for a keyring holder and just give them away.

I still have to spray them with acrylic sealer because mod podge gloss is still sticky even after it dries. Well, on to the next project!!!

Keep crafting everyone!!!DSC07963

Candy!!!!

Published September 19, 2013 by emmaperez1961

Although, I do enjoy baking and learning decorating techniques. I also wanted to try my hand on making fudge. But that didn’t come out so good. Surprisingly, I ended up making caramel candy. Which, I found out that’s what happens to first timers. Not all was lost because they did come out pretty tasty. I wrapped them individually to prevent them from sticking together. Can’t wait to give some to my friend to try and my grandson loved them. Can’t wait to make more.

I’m not quitting on the fudge. I’m still having another go at it until I get it right. After reading and watching enough videos, I think I now have the just of it. We’ll see!!DSC07961

First time for everything (Owls)

Published September 15, 2013 by emmaperez1961

I got into macrame about maybe three yrs ago but only tried my hand on a few bracelets. Which  didn’t come out that well. I had seen owls being made and I really wanted to give it a go. And here they are. Not great of course. It’s a little tricky especially if you don’t know how to pull on the knots the right way.

I’m getting the hang of it and want to go on a smaller scale and in different colors. I’ve seen some that have like fur around the eyes. If anyone knows how that’s done, I would appreciate any tips! I figure, the more I do, the faster I’ll go.

I still feel as if their still missing something, like ears. I don’t know. They just don’t look right to me yet. I’ll just keep working at it. Maybe I can crochet them in. lolDSC07962

Bla, bla, bla! I mean blog, blog, blog.

I have realized that if you teach yourself a skill a year, you’d be surprised at how many things you can learn. (Read More) If it’s within 20yrs, ten yrs or five! It can be anything from a hobby or passion. Just start learning it. I now believe that there’s nothing  to difficult. You can learn anything you want in this world, especially if you put your mind to it.

Even if you don’t have the means or funds. Just save a little here and there and buy the supplies you need. (whatever entails to make that project) But don’t start piling up supplies and not do anything with them. And make a few.  Just to get the feel for it at first.

These days you can learn anything from you-tube so, there’s a great start right there. Books are helpful But, I think seeing is better than reading especially with intricate items.

I wish I had started this when I was in my teens instead of wasting time on mostly nothing. Now at 53. I’m like, in a hurry!  Actually, I wasn’t that bad. I did start crafting seriously in my 30s. And it just spiraled from there.

And don’t give up just because something doesn’t look right. Keep trying. You’ll get it right eventually!

Just Start! (Butterflies)

Butterfly mania! First it was the bows, now it butterflies.  Like the bows, their so cute!  (Read more!) I just had to give it a go and make a variety of them. And for those of you who are scared to try something new worried that it won’t come out right. Try it anyway. You’ll never know how something is made until you start working with it. And the more you practice, (with whatever media your working with)DSC07957 the better you’ll get. Trust me!

So, here are a few.  And the great thing is, I can already see what I want to do with them. I’m so excited! So starting this weekend I’m going to crochet a boat load of them. Ok, a box full of them.  Of Different shapes and sizes. 🙂

Do Over! Petal Dolls

Published September 9, 2013 by emmaperez1961

I saw these cute petal dolls that someone had posted from Hawaiian leis and pipe cleaners. I had a bunch of leis left over myself and wasn’t sure what to do with them. When I saw the post I was like ‘bingo’! So I decided to give it a try. Of course I gave them a little twist by using clay and string. I still did use the pipe cleaners for the arms. I liked the way I was able to move them. And Of course, I added faces to all of mine, although I am still working on that. Not quite there yet as you can see with the purple one.

My son (16) laughing said it creeps him out. Ya, thanks!  Ok, so she creeps me out too but I’m getting use to her.  Maybe less on the eyelashes. Well, there not only petal dolls. I wanted to them to be fairies as you can tell by the wings. I didn’t, as you can see make a pair for the white one for the green leaves gave it that wing look.

I like them all and as soon as I go and find more leis, I’ll be making more.DSC07955
